Harvest & Processing Supplies
Approaching the harvest stage of a cannabis grow is an exhilarating time. To assist you in determining the ideal time to harvest, we recommend a selection of products. Additionally, there are specific tools or Processing Supplies you’ll need for trimming, drying, and curing your valuable crop. For steps to take prior to harvesting your crop, see our article titled, “Pre-Harvest Flushing“. If you’re interested in further processing your harvest to make concentrates, we also provide recommendations. Our guide includes the best microscopes for examining trichomes, the top-quality snips for trimming colas, the optimal jars for curing buds, and affordable rosin presses for concentrate production. Moreover, we offer additional suggestions for tools that enhance the harvesting, trimming, curing, processing, and ultimately, smoking or vaping experiences, making them more enjoyable and effortless.
Trimming Scissors
When you reach the harvest stage, it’s likely that you already have pruning scissors in your gardening arsenal. However, if you don’t, now is the time to acquire a pair, as they will transform into trimming snips during harvest. Pruning snips become essential tools for precisely trimming and manicuring your harvested cannabis buds.
Fiskars Non-Stick Softgrip Microtip Pruning Snips
Every grower deserves a pair of these exceptional Fiskars scissors, which are truly unrivaled in the market. We have provided a link to the non-stick version for customers in the US and Canada, as this feature proves invaluable when trimming resinous colas that tend to be sticky. The non-stick version comes at a slightly higher price compared to the regular one, but it is well worth the investment. Please note that in the UK, only the regular version is available for purchase.
Bonsai Pruning Snips
Though they might not rival Fiskars scissors in quality, certain growers and trimmers choose these alternative options for their swiftness. They prove particularly beneficial when working with friends on trimming tasks. These scissors come equipped with a spring-open mechanism, reducing effort, and have fine points for accurate cuts.
Nitrile Gloves
Gloves will keep the resin off your hands, keeping them fresh. Additionally, they will keep hand particles off the cannabis plant.

The TrimBag
Hand trimming your cannabis flowers is always the best way to trim. However, when you are trimming for days, it becomes very tedious.
The TrimBag Original
Trimbag’s ultra portable, compact design makes getting to the job a cinch. No assembly required and intuitive handle placement create a seamless user experience. Get the most bang for your buck. Trim up to 2lbs at a time with up to 90% completion in minutes.
To use The Trimbag, you load untrimmed flower into the bag, then roll and spin the bag for a few minutes. The friction efficiently eliminates leaves from the buds, maintaining the flowers’ integrity. Enclosed in the bag is a plastic screen that divides the leaves and shake from the flowers.
Microscope
To determine the precise time to harvest you must examine the trichomes on your buds. There are many different tools to do this on the market for magnification. We personally use a digital microscope because it allows you to get detailed pictures of the trichomes which helps dial in the grow cycle. There are less expensive alternatives.
Optical 60-120x Microscope
For many years we’ve depended on an optical microscope to inspect trichomes and it worked just fine. Unlike microscopes projecting images on screens, this one requires you to peer through a lens. It provides magnification between 60x to 120x, enabling a detailed view of trichomes up close.
USB Microscope

After many years of depending on an optical microscope to inspect trichomes I received my first USB Microscope as a Christmas gift. I was simply amazed how much easier they are to use then an optical microscope. I highly recommend the use of a digital USB microscope because it will allow you to get detailed pictures of the trichomes so you can follow the buds journey to maturity. This tool can help you dial in the grow cycle.
Smart Phone Compatible Microscope
If you desire the ability to inspect and capture pictures of your trichomes using your phone, an upgrade to this particular model may be necessary. This microscope is designed to be compatible with most major phone models, offering a convenient solution for examining and photographing trichomes with your mobile device.
Mini Hygrometer
Obtaining precise temperature and humidity readings during the curing process is crucial for achieving optimal results. Mini hygrometers prove to be especially valuable for this purpose, as they conveniently fit inside the jars alongside your buds. This enables you to closely monitor and maintain the ideal conditions for your precious harvest. While it is possible to manage with just one hygrometer for multiple jars, having two or three hygrometers can significantly simplify the curing process.
Caliber IV
The advanced digital humidity sensor, included in this hygrometer, ensures precise humidity and temperature readings, providing you with real-time data for your storage needs. This digital hygrometer is the ideal humidity meter and thermometer for maintaining perfect conditions for growing and curing your cannabis flowers.
Inkbird ITH-10
Here’s another great choice for a mini hygrometer. It’s more commonly found and comes at a lower price compared to the Caliber IV. Both of these models outperform cheaper digital or analog hygrometers by a significant margin.

Scale
A scale is not a must have item but in order to measure your progress you are going to want to know how much you harvested!
Etekcity Compact Scale
You’ll require a reliable method to precisely measure and divide my harvest. There’s a wide range of options, from expensive ones that cost hundreds of dollars to inexpensive kitchen scales. I aimed for something in between! This one can hold up to 200g, measures accurately to the tenth of a gram, and is user-friendly. I’m quite fond of it and would definitely recommend it!
Curing Jars
We recommend using wide-mouth, one-quart jars for curing cannabis. These jars seal well and are just the right size for curing about an ounce of cannabis. While they might not be the cheapest option online, we mention them because they’re our preferred choice for curing. Other jars can work too, but in my experience, these wide-mouth, one-quart jars give the best results.
